In June, I was invited to banquet in welcoming HRH Prince Turki Al-Faisal to Taiwan, which gathered hundreds of politicians, businessmen, and ambassadors from various nations. That was a banquet that went beyond countries, races and believes, and where we exchanged opinions and communicated sincerely.
As soon as the ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia saw me, he came to talk to me, saying good to meet you again. I got acquainted with the ambassador at the International Islamic Conference of Dialogue, held by theMuslim World League. Its visibility of religions and intonations, and the holder, the Muslim World League, had made it a biggest conference of international religions in recent year. I was a delegate in representative of Buddhism at that time. The ambassador is the son of the former king of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, also possessing the status of prince. And now the prince’s uncle is in charge. The prince has been an ambassador in USA, UK, and Republic of Ireland, and now a leader of several international cooperation projects, also a chairman of Council of 100 Leaders in Saudi Arabia, which influences world economy well.
It was in the time of foundation of Museum of World Religion I got to know the Muslim World League. The Museum of World Religion is rewarded a cultural relic, including the most precious “Kiswa” from the Muslim World League, because of its foundation conception of respect, forgiveness and philanthropy.
I gave the prince a lazurite decoration, carved with “Love, the common truth we possess, Peace, the common desire we have”, as a present at last banquet. On that night, when seeing the spot displayed with silverware and woodcarving of Saudi Arabia, I hope to establish a memorial center of multi-culture of religion in Saudi Arabia or the museum of world religion which exhibits cultural art of all religions. And I believe that benefits on world peace, and would love to see and work on communications with Buddha and of all kinds in the future.
